‘Cause people seem to only post the 20-something Audrey Hepburn.

Audrey Hepburn was the granddaughter of a baron, the daughter of a nazi sympathizer, spent her teens doing ballet to secretly raise money for the dutch resistance against the nazis, and spent her post-film career as a goodwill ambassador of UNICEF, winning the presidential medal of freedom for her efforts.
…and history remembers her as pretty.

AND HISTORY REMEMBERS HER AS PRETTY

note

this is the first time I have ever seen a picture of her older than 20 and I think that’s scary

  • Random person: Alison was being really rude.
  • Me: HOW DARE YOU? DO YOU KNOW WHAT SHE WENT THROUGH? SHE'S DEALING WITH BEING A CLONE THE BEST SHE CAN. NOT EVERYONE CAN ROLL WITH THE PUNCHES LIKE COSIMA AND SARAH. I LOVE THEM, BUT I UNDERSTAND ALISON. SHE FEELS OUT OF CONTROL AND THAT HAS AN EFFECT ON HER ATTITUDE, BUT DON'T YOU DARE JUDGE HER.
  • Random person: I was talking about my cousin...
  • Me: Oh. Carry on.

back the fuck up

There’s another story that I like about a Chinese general who had to defend a city with only a handful of soldiers from a huge enemy horde that was in all likelihood going to steamroll the place flat within hours of showing up.
So when said horde did arrive, they saw the general sitting outside the city’s open gates, drinking tea. The horde sent a couple of emissaries over to see what was what, and the general greeted them cheerfully and invited them all to come and take tea with him.
The horde decided that this was a scenario that had “MASSIVE FUCKING TRAP” written all over it in beautiful calligraphy and promptly fucked off.
Whoever that general was, he was clearly the Ancient Chinese equivalent of Sam Vimes.

did he just invite us over for tea nah man i’m out

This just keeps getting better
